7-Day Rishikesh Itinerary: Yoga, Ganga Aarti & Himalayan Day Trips

A practical one-week plan around yoga sessions, Ganga aarti, Beatles Ashram art, and crisp sunrise viewpoints.

Arrival & orientation: land at Dehradun (Jolly Grant) and transfer 40–60 minutes to the river zone. Keep day one light—walk the ghats, settle your SIM and cash, and time your first evening for Ganga aarti.

Where to base: Tapovan and the Laxman Jhula side work well for cafés and studios; Swarg Ashram is quieter and walkable for riverfront meditation. Pick stays with backup power and verified Wi-Fi if you’ll work remotely.

Day 1 (Evening aarti): reach the ghat 30–45 minutes early, dress modestly, keep the walkway clear, and avoid flash during prayers. Carry small notes for offerings if you wish.

Day 2 (Yoga + Beatles Ashram): start with Hatha or Vinyasa, then explore the graffiti and meditation cells at the ashram. Hydrate and wear closed shoes—the grounds can be uneven.

Day 3 (Kunjapuri sunrise): pre-dawn drive plus short steps to panoramic views. Temperatures are cooler—pack a layer. Return for a late breakfast and a restorative Yin or pranayama class.

Day 4 (Waterfall micro-hike): pick an easy trail; paths are slick after rain. Carry a reusable bottle, avoid single-use plastics, and leave water spots as you found them.

Day 5 (Devprayag day trip): see the confluence that forms the Ganga. Plan a simple thali stop, keep shoulders covered at temples, and ask before photographing people.

Day 6 (Choice day): white-water rafting outside peak monsoon or an ayurvedic consult and massage. Avoid heavy meals before rafting; disclose medical conditions at check-in.

Day 7 (Slow finish): shop for ethically made incense, copper bottles, and yoga props. Ship heavy items; most stores can arrange packaging.

Best months & packing: Oct–Mar is crisp with clear skies; Apr–Jun is warmer; Jul–Sep is monsoon with frequent pauses for outdoor plans. Bring layers, a scarf for temples, grippy shoes, and a small drybag.
